The Eurofound has recently published the study Quality of life – Life and society in the EU candidate countries, which is a result of the Quality of Life Survey conducted by the Eurofound. The Study provides an overview on the situation in the Western Balkan and Turkey against the indicators on quality of life, quality of public services and quality of society, and it helps to bring the perspective of citizens into policy planning and outcome assessment.
On average, people in Serbia rate their life satisfaction modestly at 6.3 on a scale of 1–10, which is the highest among the candidate countries but below the EU28 average (7.1). The proportion of people who are optimistic about their future (58%) is somewhat lower than the EU28 average (64%) and is the lowest in comparison to other candidate countries. As revealed by the EQLS results, the most challenging area for Serbia is probably related to work–life balance.
Žarko Šunderić, CSP director, is one of the co-authors of the Study.
